Complete List of Hyderabad’s Premium Cinema Formats

Premium cinema formats available in Hyderabad

Hyderabad’s deep love for movies has entered a historic new era. The city is not just watching films anymore; it is building the most technologically advanced theater ecosystem in the country.

From a major IMAX dry spell just a few years ago, Hyderabad has rapidly evolved. It is now a city where every premium cinema format on the planet actively competes for the audience’s attention.

The crown jewel of this massive transformation is the arrival of next-generation IMAX screens. IMAX Corporation and Asian Cinemas recently signed a major deal for three new IMAX with Laser locations under the premium AMB Cinemas brand.

This move beautifully fuses classic fan celebration culture with elite, cutting-edge Hollywood projection standards. However, the city’s technical dominance extends far beyond a single format.

Hyderabad is currently the only city in India to boast such a highly curated, specialized assortment of premium screens. Each one is tailored perfectly based on the theater structure and aspect ratio.

For true-black visual contrast, movie lovers can head to the pristine EPIQ LED display at AAA Cinemas or enjoy the EPIQ PLF experience at ART Cinemas.

For massive, grand canvases, the city offers Prasads Multiplex’s iconic PCX (Flat) screen. It also features high-dynamic-range pioneers like HDR by Barco at both Prasads (Flat) and AMB Cinemas (Scope).

Even the city’s traditional theater structures have upgraded to elite status. Allu Cinemas proudly houses India’s largest Dolby Cinema screen, offering an unmatched combination of Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.

For those who prefer raw screen size over multiplex geometry, Devi 70MM stands tall as the largest Scope format screen in the entire state.

This sits alongside flagship layouts like PVR’s P[XL] at Lakeshore (Flat) and Superplex Inorbit (Scope). Add in Cinepolis’s MACRO XE at TNR North City and motion-heavy 4DX venues, and there is a perfect screen for every single directorial vision.

The most exciting part for local cinephiles is that this cinematic skyline is still aggressively growing. The momentum is set to accelerate further with two more IMAX screens coming from Asian Cinemas.

An additional one to two IMAX locations are also in the pipeline from PVR. Furthermore, highly anticipated venues like the upcoming Mythri Ranga are undergoing massive renovations to introduce even more Dolby Cinema screens to the public.

Hyderabad has officially set a golden global standard. It proves that when it comes to experiencing pure cinema, no other city in India even comes close.
