Devara Hindi

Excitement surrounded the release of Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker: Folie À Deux, which hit Indian cinemas on October 2.

The first Joker film, released in 2019, remains the highest-grossing English-language film in India, earning a net collection of 70 crores, equivalent to over 100 crores today when adjusted for ticket prices.

The Joker franchise has developed a strong fan base in India over the past five years. This raised concerns about how its popularity might affect NTR’s Devara, especially in the Hindi market. Devara was released on September 27 and has performed better than expected in Hindi-speaking regions.

Initially, there were fears that Joker’s sequel could threaten Devara’s box-office performance, particularly on Gandhi Jayanti, a national holiday. The simultaneous release was seen as a potential challenge for Devara.

However, Joker: Folie À Deux has been met with negative reviews and disappointing audience reactions. Many viewers have labeled it an epic disappointment.

This has turned into a blessing for Devara, which is now expected to have a clear run in Hindi cinemas until Dussehra. The negative reception of Joker 2 means it will not impact Devara’s box office, especially in A-grade multiplexes.

As a result, Devara is now projected to earn between ₹65 crores and ₹70 crores in its lifetime in Hindi, which would be considered a good result for a dubbed Telugu film featuring NTR as a solo hero.
