Divine Action: Tollywood’s New Favourite Formula?

Tollywood divine action trend

Divine action seems to be slowly becoming a trend in Tollywood. These days, even when a film belongs to a completely different genre, filmmakers are finding a way to add a divine or spiritual element and build a major action sequence around it.

The trend is not exactly new, but films from the Pushpa series have made this combination more popular in mainstream cinema. The idea of mixing local culture, powerful characters, divine elements and high-intensity action is now being explored more often.

Nani’s The Paradise and Vijay Deverakonda’s Ranabaali are among the latest films to explore larger worlds with strong cultural and action backdrops. Both films show how filmmakers are moving beyond regular action stories and trying to create a more rooted setting around their heroes.

Now, Manchu Manoj is also entering this space with his upcoming film. The movie is being planned as a big-budget divine action thriller based around Pothuraju, with Telangana culture and traditions forming an important part of the story. The film is expected to combine divine elements, a thrilling narrative and large-scale action.

What makes this trend interesting is that divine elements are no longer being used only for devotional stories. They are becoming part of commercial cinema, especially in action-driven films.

With Manchu Manoj’s new film joining the list, it looks like divine action could become one of the formulas Telugu filmmakers continue to explore. The real test will be whether every film can bring something fresh to this increasingly familiar template.
