Viral Meme: Did Kriti Sanon Steal Dhanush’s Credit?

Dhanush Kriti Sanon Tere Ishk Mein debate

The Bollywood film Tere Ishk Mein, starring Dhanush and Kriti Sanon, and directed by Aanand L Rai, was released in theatres on November 28th. The film received mixed responses from audiences.

Despite the mixed reviews, Tere Ishk Mein has collected more than 160 crores worldwide. The film has emerged as a blockbuster at the box office.

However, nearly 70% of the collections came from the North Indian market. In Tamil Nadu, the film collected only around 10 crores.

Following this weak theatrical performance in Tamil Nadu, some people began questioning Dhanush’s box office pull in his home state. This discussion gained momentum online soon after.

Adding fuel to the debate, a fake meme started circulating on social media. The meme falsely claimed that Kriti Sanon said the film’s success was solely because of her stardom.

The viral post alleged that Kriti stated her influence in the Hindi market was stronger than Dhanush’s. It further claimed this was the reason for the film performing better in the Hindi market than in the Tamil market.

Although the claim is completely baseless, many social media users believed it. Some began trolling Dhanush, accusing Kriti Sanon of directly attacking him over the film’s underperformance in Tamil Nadu.

These users also suggested that Dhanush should focus more on his core Tamil market before losing his hold there. The fake quote quickly became part of a wider box office debate.

In response, Dhanush’s fans strongly defended the actor. They criticised those spreading the fake meme and urged people not to believe unverified claims.

Despite this, the viral fake post has triggered a major online discussion. Social media platforms are now flooded with reactions and counterarguments related to the controversy.
