Faria Abdullah has finally spoken about the social media controversy around her Bonalu celebrations.
Speaking at the press meet of her upcoming film Sigma, the actress said she was surprised by the reactions to her post. Faria said she came across many “orthodox ideologies” during the controversy. She questioned how such thinking still exists in 2026. She also described herself as a forward-thinking person.
The actress said social media is simply a platform for her to express her views. She understands that people can have different opinions. She may not agree with them, but she accepts their right to think differently.
At the same time, Faria does not seem interested in dragging the controversy further.
She described her outlook as “all peace and all love.” She said people who connect with her way of thinking can follow it, instead of trying to change everyone else.
With Sigma gearing up for release, the actress wants the focus back on her film rather than another social media debate.
For the unversed, a few weeks ago, Faria Abdullah faced severe trolling and religious abuse after participating in Bonalu celebrations in Hyderabad’s Old City. Some users questioned her participation and called her a “kafir”. She responded with an emotional video, explaining that her father had converted to Islam by choice and that she had grown up respecting his faith.
