Telugu Film Industry produces highest number of movies in the country and quantity wise, Bollywood comes second to Tollywood. Besides hundreds of straight movies; a lot of Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi dubbing versions find their market in Telugu States…rarely Kannada movies even.
Coming to dubbing movies, there is a Film Chamber’s rule that dubbing movies should not be released during the festival seasons. Coming Sankranthi season, big movies like ‘Gopala Gopala’ and ‘Temper’ are scheduled to hit theatres on 9th and 14th respectively this coming January. The makers of these movies are toiling hard to make the festival release possible.
If Shankar’s magnanimous ‘I’ comes into the race, then there can arise a tricky situation in which even the super success of straight films would be affected because the revenues would have to be shared with Vikram’s ‘I’. There is a talk among cine circles that the above said Film Chamber’s rule would come in handy to make the makers of ‘I’ decide for postponement. Let’s wait and see what would finally happen to ‘I’.
