Ilaiyaraaja has been honoured at the Parliament of Victoria in Australia. The composer received the recognition as he continues the celebrations marking 50 years in cinema.
A ceremonial stamp was presented in Ilaiyaraaja’s honour at the Parliament. It was a special moment for the composer, who has been marking his five-decade career with a series of events and concerts.
The Australia celebrations are not stopping with the Parliament event. Ilaiyaraaja will perform in Sydney on September 26, with the concert also being part of his 50-year celebrations.
His music has been a big part of South Indian cinema for decades, and he has worked across Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada films. Many of those songs continue to remain popular with audiences even years after their release.
Now, the Australian Parliament honour has become another highlight of his 50-year celebrations. Ilaiyaraaja’s Australia visit will continue with the Sydney concert later this week.
