Yesterday was a packed one for the film audience as we have one notable film from Telugu and from Tamil that released this weekend.
The Telugu film discussion here is Korean Kanakaraju while the Tamil film is DC, which marks the acting debut of director, Lokesh Kanakaraj. But in reality, the main hero of this DC film is obviously Anirudh Ravichander thanks to his musical impact.
Coming to the box office reports of both these films from the opening day Korean Kanakaraju featuring Varun Tej has posted a good number.
The makers of this Varun Tej film have communicated that it had collected in the nationality of ₹10 crore gross on the opening day. This is a reasonably good start for a film of this genre.
More importantly, Varun Tej needed a solid commercial film to re-establish his connection with the audience and he has done it relatively well with Korean Kanakaraju now. This is the best possible start for his films in recent times.
The crucial challenge will be to continue the momentum over the weekend and the fact that it is a comedy oriented film will help the cause as well.
Then we have the case of DC, which marks the debut of Lokesh Kanagaraj as hero. This film has reportedly collected in the range of ₹4.5 crore gross on the opening day.
More than Lokesh Kanagaraj, it is the musical work of Anirudh that has pulled the audience to theatres on the opening day. As expected, he has delivered a sensationally good soundtrack for this film, which almost entirely depended on him.
In their own ways, both the films have opened on a good note at the ticket counter, and this is a positive sign. Everything will depend on the momentum that is displayed late in Saturday night followed by a strong Sunday.
