The buzz around South actress Krithi Shetty’s much-awaited Bollywood debut has taken an unexpected turn. The Uppena star, known for her strong presence in Telugu and Tamil cinema, has reportedly walked out of the film that was meant to launch her in Hindi films.
The project, directed by Sajid Khan and produced by Zee Studios, was designed as a double debut featuring Krithi alongside Yashvardhan Ahuja, son of veteran actor Govinda. It was originally planned as a remake of a popular South Indian movie and also starred Laapataa Ladies fame Nitanshi Goel.
The fresh casting and big-studio backing had created strong buzz among trade circles. But Krithi’s sudden exit has left the makers reworking the project’s casting, with uncertainty now surrounding its next phase of production.
This is the second major setback in Krithi’s Bollywood journey. She was earlier finalised for the Hindi remake of Baby opposite Babil Khan, but that project was shelved due to creative differences.
Although the reason behind her latest withdrawal remains unclear, her shift to Hindi cinema seems to be hitting repeated roadblocks despite huge expectations from her fans. Krithi, who made her Telugu debut with Uppena in 2021, continues to be one of South India’s most promising young actresses.
Meanwhile, Yashvardhan Ahuja is still set to make his first on-screen appearance as the team now searches for a new leading lady to replace Krithi in the film.
