Lenin collected $287K from premieres and Day 1 (Thursday and Friday). On Saturday, it added another $155K, taking the total from Thursday premieres through Saturday to $442K.
Today (Sunday) is expected to be slower, as Sundays and Mondays are generally weak at the U.S. box office.
Then comes next Tuesday, which usually delivers decent collections for most Telugu films because of the popular $5 ticket deals offered by major theater chains.
The relief for Lenin is that it faces no major competition next week, with only a few small releases arriving.
However, Lenin will need to post super strong second week numbers to reach the prestigious $1 million mark in North America. It remains to be seen how well the film can attract audiences during its second week.
