Despite his angry young image and his larger than life image on screen, superstar Amitabh Bachan couldn’t shine and stand out in the political arena. He made his political entry to support his friend Rajiv Gandhi during the troubled times when Indira Gandhi was assasinated and the riots broke down on sikhs. But his political career was short lived.
When the PM was assainated by her own body guards Satwant Singh and Beant Singh, the sikhs were targetted and violence broke out on them in 1984, the same year Big B made his political entry. Following the assasination, Bachan was accused of raising the slogan ‘Blood to Blood’ on Doordarshan.
Latest the superstar landed himself in a legal tussle for those slogans he raised, Amitabh Bachchan was summoned by Los Angeles Federal Court for allegedly instigating 1984 violence against Sikhs and he needs to respond within 21 days as per the court orders. In the past too, New York-based Sikh for Justice (SFJ) tried to drag several Indians to US courts but not successful.
