As a part of Swachh Bharath Abhiyan, the five-year long cleanliness drive was launched on October 2nd which commemorates Mahatma Gandhi’s 145th birth anniversary, in Delhi. PM Mr.Modi nominated nine Indians for the cause. And in turn these nine celebrities would take up the campaign and nominate 9 more. Modi nominated Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Kamal Haasan, Shashi Tharoor, Mridula Sinha, Sachin Tendulkar, Anil Ambai, Baba Ramdev and the entire team of a popular Hindi TV show ‘Tarak Mehta Ki Ulta Chasma’.

Among the persons nominated by Modi, Rajnikanth’s name is conspicously missing. These nominations and challenges seem to be inspired by the recent Ice Bucket Challenge. But this kind of creating chain by nominating others has similar overtones with the concept put forward in AA Murugodoss film ‘Stalin’ starring megastar Chiranjeevi. Help three and those three must vow to help three more. Though not nominated by PM Modi, Aamir Khan who was present at the event said he would like to be the brand ambassador of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Challenge.
