Looking at the theatres being shut down for more than six-eight months and ambiguity still lingering on the heads of the Cinema businesses, the concept of 100 Cr clubs, 200 Cr clubs and bigger clubs seem to be a gone thing, now.
While these clubs were a rage and big competition between the biggies in Bollywood, even Tollywood was picking up on that concept recently. These 100 Cr clubs and 200 Cr clubs have started even in regional films as the competition grew.
Films like ‘Ala Vaikunthaurramloo‘ and ‘Sarileru Neekevvaru’ were seen actively fighting for these clubs earlier in the year with posters claiming that their movie entered so and so club of 100-200 crores etc. But, COVID pandemic changed everything.
Due to the COVID pandemic, these cubs may not be possible at all in the future. Even if a star hero’s film runs decently at the box-office in the home turf, overseas would still pose a grim picture. Bollywood’s trade isn’t expecting even the big-budget films fighting for 200 Cr clubs as even a decent hit would be like some crore club movie in the present scenario.
