Box office clashes are routine, but it’s not every day that an artist ends up competing with their own work. While big stars and directors usually steer clear of such overlaps, music directors often don’t have that luxury.
Last week Mythri Movie Makers clashed their own film Jaat with their own Good Bad Ugly. This weekend, celebrated Kannada composer B. Ajaneesh Loknath finds himself in that very situation.

Odela 2 and Arjun Son of Vyjayanthi clashed this week at the box office. However, both films are poles apart in tone and genre.
Odela 2 dives into horror-action. In contrast, Arjun Son of Vyjayanthi is a family action drama. This contrast offers Ajaneesh the perfect stage to display his versatility.

In Arjun S/O Vyjayanthi, his songs are underwhelming and forgettable. The background score starts off promisingly. A strong recurring theme helps lift the first half.
However, as the film drags in the latter portions, even Ajaneesh’s BGM loses steam. That may be more due to the film’s outdated storytelling than his own fault.

Meanwhile, in Odela 2, Ajaneesh delivers a compelling background score once again. There are no conventional songs to rely on. Instead, the atmosphere he builds through sound becomes a core part of the film’s narrative.
It’s another solid outing following his earlier success in Virupaksha and Mangalavaaram. This cements his grip on the thriller-horror genre.
Both films may be lacking in content, with Arjun S/O Vyjayanthi only slightly better. Still, Ajaneesh has done his job sincerely with consistency.
Even if his work doesn’t shine as brightly due to the poor content, his credibility as a sincere and dependable composer continues to grow.
