Last year, the summer box office season looked dull because there were hardly any star hero film releases. Many movie lovers hoped things would be different this year. Early announcements created excitement, as several big films were lined up for release toward the end of March. Trade circles expected the summer season to start with a bang. The situation has now changed completely, and there are fears that this summer may also end up hugely disappointing.
Two of the biggest films initially planned for the late March window were Peddi and The Paradise. Ram Charan’s Peddi, directed by Buchi Babu Sana, was first scheduled for March 26. The Paradise, featuring Nani, was set for March 27. Fans were looking forward to this exciting box office clash. However, both films have now postponed their releases. Peddi has moved to April 30, though there are still doubts about whether it will make that date. The Paradise has moved completely out of the summer race and is now targeting an August release.
With these two big films stepping aside, attention shifted to Yash’s Toxic clashing with the monster Dhurandhar 2. As Yash’s first film after the massive success of KGF, expectations were naturally very high. The film was planned for a March 19 release, and the team initially insisted the date would remain unchanged. However, just 15 days before the release, Toxic has been postponed to June 4 citing the Middle East crisis. However, inside reports claim there was panic inside the Toxic team as the film’s buzz was not picking up and it was looking suicidal to clash against Dhurandhar 2.
Another film, Dacoit, which was also scheduled for March 19, is reportedly delayed as well. Because of these changes, the entire March release lineup has lost momentum.
Now the industry’s hopes mainly rest on Dhurandhar 2 and Ustaad Bhagat Singh starring Pawan Kalyan. Even here, some uncertainty remains about whether Dhurandhar 2 will arrive on schedule. Expectations around Ustaad Bhagat Singh are also average for now.
With so many postponements and doubts, fans and trade analysts are once again asking the same question. Will the 2026 summer season finally deliver the excitement the industry needs, or will it end up being another disappointing summer like last year?
