Adivi Sesh’s upcoming film Dacoit has quietly moved away from its original March 2026 release plan. The film was earlier locked for March 19, but trade reports now indicate that the makers are eyeing April 10 as the new release date. An official announcement is still awaited.
The reason is straightforward. March 19 is already booked for Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, releasing in five languages. With its scale and reach, Dhurandhar 2 is expected to dominate screens across India. Forget about Hindi, Dacoit would have struggled to get shows and screens even in Telugu states.
Earlier, Adivi Sesh had publicly stated that the clash would not affect his film’s plans. He said he had faced a similar situation before. He referred to 2022, when his film Major released alongside Kamal Haasan’s Vikram and Akshay Kumar’s Samrat Prithviraj. He arrogantly said, “There may be many big fish in the sea, but we are the goldfish.”
That statement, however, did not go down well with many on social media this time. Several users mocked the comparison, saying that if Dacoit was a goldfish, Dhurandhar 2 was a shark. Many pointed out that clashing with regional films like Vikram or a dull film like Samrat Prithviraj is very different from clashing with a sequel to a massive blockbuster like Dhurandhar. The actor’s overconfidence was widely trolled, with many warning that his words would backfire.
Now, with Dacoit quietly moving away from the clash, it appears the team has accepted the ground reality. Matching the hype, buzz, and screen count of Dhurandhar 2 was never going to be easy. Choosing a safer release window seems to be a practical decision rather than facing a disastrous defeat at the box office.
