Big Relief for Peddi in Telangana: But Conditions Apply!

Peddi gets Telangana ticket hike

The suspense surrounding ticket price hikes and premiere show permissions for Ram Charan’s Peddi has finally come to an end in Telangana.

After days of uncertainty, Revanth Reddy’s Telangana government has officially approved ticket price hikes for the film. The government has also granted permission for a special premiere show ahead of the film’s release.

According to the order, multiplex ticket prices can be increased by Rs. 150, while single-screen theatres have been allowed a hike of Rs. 100. Premiere show tickets have been capped at Rs. 600, with permission granted for only one special show.

The decision comes as a major relief for the makers, distributors, and exhibitors who were anxiously waiting for clarity. Unlike Andhra Pradesh, where the ticket hike approval arrived earlier, Telangana remained uncertain until the last minute. The delay created confusion and frustration among fans regarding advance bookings and premiere planning.

The uncertainty was further complicated by the ongoing dispute between producers and exhibitors over the percentage-sharing system. At one stage, there were even reports that the government was considering withholding permissions altogether to avoid taking sides in the conflict. With the latest approval, those concerns have now been put to rest.

Peddi is one of the biggest Telugu releases of the year. The film carries huge expectations not only for Ram Charan but also for the Telugu film industry, which has been struggling for a major theatrical success in recent months.

Advance bookings are now expected to accelerate across Telangana as theatres begin updating ticket prices and opening bookings within the next few minutes.

However, in the past, a few big films have faced last-minute legal challenges after ticket hike permissions were granted, with public interest petitions seeking stays on government orders. While there is currently no indication of such a development, the industry has witnessed enough surprises in recent years to remain cautious.

For now, though, Peddi has cleared one of its biggest pre-release hurdles. The focus now shifts entirely to the box office, where the film must justify both its massive hype and its premium ticket pricing when audiences finally step into theatres tomorrow night for the premieres.
