Ramayana Postponed: Big Relief for Prabhas & Vanga?

Prabhas' Spirit and Ramayana 2 release update

Prabhas’ Spirit could get a clear run at the Diwali 2027 box office, with Ranbir Kapoor and Yash’s Ramayana 2 reportedly postponed by a year.

The makers of Ramayana had initially planned to release the two parts during Diwali 2026 and Diwali 2027. However, a report by Bollywood Hungama claims that the second instalment has now been postponed to Diwali 2028, giving the team more time to complete the film.

According to the report, the second part requires additional shooting, particularly for its large-scale war sequences. Producer Namit Malhotra and director Nitesh Tiwari reportedly want to raise the scale of the action and deliver a cinematic experience that can compete on the global stage. The source also claimed that the new release date could be announced through a post-credit sequence in the first film.

If the reported postponement is confirmed, it will be a huge development for Prabhas and Spirit. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the film was recently scheduled for October 29, 2027, making it a Diwali festive release.

A clash between Spirit and Ramayana 2 would have brought two massive projects into direct competition for screens, audience attention, and box office collections. With Ramayana 2 moving to 2028, Spirit could have a clearer path during the festive season.

However, a clear release window does not automatically guarantee a huge box office run. Spirit will still need strong content, positive word of mouth, and sustained audience interest to make the most of the opportunity.

For now, the reported postponement is encouraging news for Prabhas fans. If the new schedule holds and no other big film decides to clash, Spirit may have one of the best release windows with huge box office potential.
