When Rajamouli started his biggest project ‘Baahubali’, a lot of dialogue happened regarding the title of the movie. Especially the Jains feared that the image of Bahubali, popularly known as Gomateshwara would be spoilt because Bahubali is worshipped as Gomateshwara, a much revered God in Jain pantheon tracing the origin back to 10th century. Bhattakalankar Soudha Swamiji Mutt, based in Uttara Kannada, has issued legal notice alleging that the film’s title is hurting their religious sentiments.
At present, Rajamouli with his technical team, especially Peter Heins and Sabu Cyril has got erected a humoungous statue measuring 100 feet and is all praise for them for having done such a gigantic task possible. But fearing the Gomateshwara controversy to retrace again, Rajamouli tweeted that statue has got no connection to Gomateshwara, the Baahubali of Jain pantheon.
