Student of the Year introduced Varun Dhawan, Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt to Bollywood in the year 2012. Ever since then they have become prominent names in the industry and have the grace of their Godfather Karan Johar.
However, no amount of luck could save 2024 for these stars at the Box Office. Each had a highly anticipated film in their bag but it ended up in disaster.
Sidharth Malhotra starred in Yodha, an action thriller directed by Sagar Ambre and Pushkar Ojha. It also had Raashii Khanna and Disha Patani in prominent roles but critics called it a bumpy ride and it couldn’t earn well.
Jigra was a highly anticipated film by Vasan Bala starring Alia Bhatt that was backed by Dharma Productions. It disappointed fans and critics equally and was the lowest opener for Alia in 10 years.
Nowadays, Varun Dhawan’s Baby John is at the cineplexes but it is struggling badly. It’s been on the fifth day and is struggling to reach even the 30 crore mark.
The stars were really not in the favour of Students of the Year. Maybe 2025 can revive their luck!
