Tollywood went on an indefinite strike from the 1st of August. It was stated that the main motive behind the strike was to come up with an action plan to revive Telugu theatrical industry and to devise cost deduction procedures to decrease the burden on the producers.
Naturally, the sky high remunerations of the heroes are the reason behind high production costs. The same was addressed by a few producers during the strike.
But cut to now, an active member of the Producer’s Guild, Bekkem Venugopal has said that the Tollywood strike was not to discuss the possibility of reducing the remunerations of the heroes.
“The strike wasn’t to pressurise heroes into reducing their high remunerations. It is not even right to ask them to reduce the remunerations. It’ll depend on demand and supply,” he said.
Well, it is widely known that the high remunerations of the heroes is the main reason behind the high production costs. Rest all factors might badly make any impact on the production costs. So, leaving out the remuneration deduction proposal from a strike that was intended to discuss cost deduction procedures make very little sense.
Bekkem, who is said to be very close to Dil Raju, said 35 producers stalled 65 film shoots during the strike to discuss cost reduction procedures. Now, he’s saying heroes remunerations was never on the table. It is strange to hear this after many small films struggled due to the strike.
Bekkem is now awaiting the release of Alluri which is releasing on the 23rd of this month. This film has Sree Vishnu playing a powerful cop. It is directed by Pradeep Varma.
