Known for maintaining a rigorous physique, actor Kartikeya Gummakonda has revealed his next project, a boxing-based story titled Comeback. He takes on the roles of screenwriter and director for the first time. The project was announced on his birthday today, along with a first look at the film.
The sneak peek begins with a voiceover dialogue between two unnamed figures. One recalls that three years have passed without any mention of the boxer in his sporting circle and assumes that the athlete may have left the ring. The second asks what the contender’s next plan could be. The first describes the situation as reckless, as the three-year absence has left them unaware of what the boxer has been doing.
The lines suggest a former sportsperson returning after a long break. The uncertainty surrounding his background hints at personal challenges or a deliberate withdrawal. It sets up a storyline built around the character’s return.
Produced by Kartikeya’s wife Lohitha Reddy under the Kartikeya Creative Works label, the project marks a new step for the actor. The RX 100 lead is taking on writing and direction responsibilities alongside acting.
In the sneak peek, Kartikeya is seen shadowboxing. His physical fitness is evident in the footage. His filmography includes Nani’s Gang Leader and Ajith’s Tamil film Valimai.
Vijay Bulganin is handling the music, Jagadeesh Cheekati is the cinematographer, KR Kumar Manne is the production designer, Kalyan Suryaprakash is the editor, Shilpa Tanguturu is designing the costumes, and Surya Akella is the creative director.
