Samantha Delays Maa Inti Bangaram: Real Reason Not IPL?

Maa Inti Bangaram delay

Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s upcoming film Maa Inti Bangaram marks her return in a strong lead role after a considerable gap. Directed by Nandini Reddy, the project is also significant because Samantha is producing it under her own production banner.

The teaser created decent curiosity by presenting Samantha in a layered role. Initially shown as a simple housewife, the character gradually reveals a far more intense and fearless side. Her appearance in the action portions especially grabbed attention.

However, the film recently became a major talking point after its release was postponed.

Maa Inti Bangaram was originally scheduled for May 15 but reports now indicate that the release has been pushed to June 19. An official confirmation is still awaited.

According to the makers, the IPL season is the primary reason behind the delay. The concern is that cricket affects theatre footfalls, especially for family-oriented films, and the team reportedly wanted to avoid releasing during peak IPL frenzy.

But industry circles believe that’s only part of the story.

There is strong talk that the team also wanted to stay away from the storm surrounding Ram Charan’s Peddi, which is expected to release on June 4.

Right now, Peddi has completely taken over the conversation in Tollywood. Distributors, exhibitors, and fans are all focused on that film. The overall sentiment in the market is that audiences first want to experience Peddi and move past that wave before turning attention to anything else.

The belief is that Samantha and her team would rather release Maa Inti Bangaram after the initial frenzy around Peddi settles down. Once the hype cools, audiences may become more open to appreciating other films, especially content-driven ones.

Trade insiders feel the makers are trying to secure breathing space by maintaining a gap of roughly two weeks after Peddi. The idea is simple: avoid getting crushed under the pressure of a massive pan-India release and give the film a safer window to find its audience.
