Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the World’s Biggest Coronavirus Vaccination drive this morning. The drive has begun in both the Telugu states as well with Sanitation Workers getting the first vaccine. In the first phase, medical staff and the frontline workers are given the vaccine.
In Telangana, Kistamma, a senior sanitation worker at Gandhi hospital has become the first person to get the vaccine in the state. She has been working at the hospital for the last ten years. Gandhi Hospital was the only nodal COVID treating hospital for the entire state for the most part of the Pandemic.
In Andhra Pradesh, B Pushpa Kumari, another sanitation staffer was the first one to get the vaccine at GGH, Vijayawada. Both of them have reported no side effects after the vaccination. While Andhra Pradesh is administering Covishield, Telangana is giving Covaxin on day one.
On the other side, Radha, a health worker who was vaccinated at GGH, Vijayawada, developed a minor illness and collapsed immediately after taking the jab. The doctors are currently attending to her.
