Shriya Saran on Target? Beware of Fake WhatsApp Scam

Shriya Saran Instagram scam alert

Shriya Saran has become the latest target of a WhatsApp scam, where someone used her photos and name to fool people. On November 19, she warned you through an Instagram story and addressed the fraudsters who were impersonating her to cheat others.

As reported, the fake account contacted photographers, models and industry professionals while pretending to be Shriya. The scammer offered paid photoshoots and brand deals and used these promises to collect advance payments and personal details from unsuspecting people.

Shriya shared the fake number on social media and told you not to respond or transfer money. She wrote that the scammer was not her and asked the person behind the act to stop. Her warning spread quickly as more people learned about the impersonation.

The case feels serious because Aditi Rao Hydari reported a similar scam just three days earlier. In her case, a fraudster used her photos and identity to reach out to photographers and brands with the same intention of arranging fake shoots.

Several South Indian actresses and actors like Arjun Kapoor have recently dealt with similar frauds. With WhatsApp being widely used for work and communication, impersonation scams are rising as scammers create fake profiles with celebrity images.

Victims generally realise the truth only after sending money and approaching the police. Shriya urged you to block and report the number immediately and asked businesses to verify all messages that ask for money before trusting them.
