Shruti Haasan has spoken openly about something many women still hesitate to discuss at the workplace. The actress shared her own experiences with periods and how her attitude towards talking about them changed over the years.
Shruti Haasan recalled that during the early stage of her career, she felt uncomfortable telling people on film sets that she was on her period. Like many women, she felt that it was something she had to deal with quietly while continuing to work.
She said her perspective changed after seeing how a co-star’s health issue was handled by a film team. The team understood the situation and adjusted the shooting schedule accordingly. That experience made Shruti realise that there was no reason for her to hide her own health concerns.
Since then, she has become more comfortable speaking about her periods on sets when necessary. She also shared an interesting thought that if men experienced periods too, there would probably be clear contractual rules for period leave and holidays for women.
Her comments highlight a simple workplace issue in the film industry. Shooting schedules can be extremely demanding, and actors may have to work for long hours without much flexibility. Being able to openly communicate about health can make it easier for teams to plan without affecting the work.
For Shruti, the biggest change was not about getting special treatment. It was about feeling comfortable enough to say when her body needed consideration.
