Director Sukumar delivered a stunning blockbuster in the Hindi market with Pushpa 2. The film has exceeded every expectation set by trade pundits and continues to perform exceptionally well in its second weekend.
Despite its commercial success, Pushpa 2 has not received significant critical acclaim in either the Hindi or Telugu markets.

While the masses enjoy the high-octane action scenes, Sukumar’s distinct directorial style remains largely unknown to Hindi audiences. He has, however, succeeded in amplifying box office collections with his action sequences.
A long-standing complaint about Sukumar is his lack of timely planning. Despite taking three years to complete Pushpa 2, he was still in the editing room just days before its release, without involving himself in the promotions.

This mismanagement highlights poor planning, which can heavily cost producers due to accumulating interest on finances.
Delays not only increase production costs but also risk missing the best release date that maximizes revenue. If Pushpa 2 had released on August 15th, it could have collected even more shocking numbers, a loss attributed solely to the director’s poor planning.

Sukumar’s approach contrasts with directors like S.S. Rajamouli, who also take years to complete films but do so with meticulous planning.
If Sukumar takes years to complete a film, audiences and stakeholders expect projects on the scale of Baahubali or RRR. Not regular mass masala film made taking three years.
To rebuild confidence, Sukumar must improve his planning, finish projects on schedule, and ensure his next film avoids unnecessary delays. Only then can he shed this negative perception and gain trust. Sukumar needs to fix his way of working to give confidence to producers, not put them in a position to worry every day.
