It has been a year and half since the release of Pushpa 2 and Sukumar is yet to materialise his immediate next project. There are rumours about his possible collaboration with Ram Charan, but nothing is confirmed for now.
At the fundamental level, it needs to be observed that Sukumar has spent nearly 18 or 20 months without film shoots, which is rather unconventional for a director of his scale.
It is common in the film industry for a project that was supposed to start on time to get delayed, and the director and hero facing the brunt. But in the case of Sukumar, he hasn’t even started this process of production in the first place.
But if Sukumar actually end up working with Charan, then it needs to be perhaps understood that this break might be ultimately good for the mega hero.
After working on a physically and mentally demanding project, like Pushpa 2 which is shot in exotic locations over a period of 2 years, it is easy to succumb to its hangover.
The fragments and reminiscence of Pushpa 2 would be rubbing on the creative mind of Sukumar for a really long time. This rejuvenation and hibernation period that lasted for nearly 20 months must’ve rehashed the working memory of Sukumar to a great extent.
Now he would be primarily focused on the collaboration with Charan and would be coming up with an extremely original story. This is precisely what Charan needs at this point after having work on a rugged film like Peddi.
We don’t quite know if Sukumar would be coming up with another rustic film with Charan, or whether he would urbanise the subject and come up with a fresher approach.
