Sigma, the upcoming film starring Sundeep Kishan and marking Jason Sanjay’s directorial debut, is set for release on October 2nd. The promotional material released so far has received a response. The team addressed the media to share details about the film.
Jason Sanjay, who has studied screenwriting and direction, said filmmaking has always been his passion. “Sigma has lots of interesting elements like a heist, adventure and a treasure hunt. It is also a relatable film. When I finished writing the script, I wanted to make sure that it would relate across all languages. Sigma is about someone fighting for his own identity.”
Sanjay also spoke about his family and the lessons he has inherited from them. His grandfather encouraged him to learn the nuances of scriptwriting, while punctuality is the quality he particularly wants to learn from his father. He also stated that his father won’t be part of the movie promotions, since he’s busy serving as the chief minister.
Sundeep Kishan sees the project as the launchpad for a new filmmaker whose vision he supports. “For me, Sanjay is also a hero of this film, since he directed it. I am proud to introduce him to Telugu cinema. You cannot find a better guy than him. I have travelled with him for two years. It is notable for someone from Gen Z to be this genuine. He made the movie with a lot of honesty.”
Sundeep also highlighted Sanjay’s discipline during production. The director had committed to completing the film in 70 days but wrapped it up in 63 days. He added that Sanjay did not compromise on his vision or deviate from the script. “He gave me a bound script and made the same film. He never took advantage of being son of a big star. He completed the film within the budget. This can be watched as a straight Telugu film as well as a straight Tamil film.”
Reflecting on his association with the project, Sundeep added, “Sigma is a matter of honour for me as an actor. A young director coming with a new vision and choosing to make a film with me feels like a compliment.”
For Sundeep, the film ultimately reflects the personality of its young filmmaker. “Sanjay made a Gen Z, jolly film. He never felt the pressure and made a good film.”
