“I request the Nandi award to committee to consider the idea of rolling out a couple of dedicated awards for Telangana-origin films. This will encourage Telangana films to scale to greater heights” Vijaendra Prasad said.

The star writer went on to say that the Telangana government should also consider the idea of offering cash incentives to films that are made almost entirely in Telangana.

“Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge was shot almost entirely in Switzerland. After the film’s release, there was a lot of tourism traffic from India to Switzerland. The same can be applied to Telangana by offering cash incentives to films that have the Telangana atmospheric as a key aspect and highlight the beauty of the state” the RRR writer said.

Nandi awards is always in the news for one reason or the other. And now, Vijayendra Prasad has given it a new twist by calling for select dedicated awards for Telangana-origin films. Will that happen? We shall wait and see.
