YRF’s SPY Universe is the biggest and most successful movie franchise in India right now. But before this universe happened, there was another franchise that was equally popular and successful. The ‘Dhoom’ franchise!
Dhoom was released as an experiment in 2004, starring flop heroes like Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham, and Uday Chopra. But it turned out to be a huge money spinner at the box office. Dhoom 2 happened in 2006, which again was one of the biggest hits of all time and raised the bar of Indian films. Dhoom 3, released in 2013, was critically panned, but the box office returns were huge.
In 2015, Yash Raj Films even announced Dhoom Reloaded (Dhoom 4) was coming soon. But since then, there has been no development and updates on that front.
In all the Dhoom films, it’s the antagonist’s role that is the most crucial one. It was expected that a big superstar would be approached for the next Dhoom installment. Many names like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Ranveer Singh, and Akshay Kumar popped up, who were expected to be cast as the villain. But no such thing happened.
Now that YRF has announced the next movie in the SPY franchise, WAR 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and NTR, people on social media are commenting that it is high time now for YRF to revive the Dhoom series also.
Many big stars from the South, like Prabhas, Allu Arjun, Ram Charan, NTR, Allu Arjun, and Yash, have become big pan-India stars in the last few years. So it is being speculated that since Adi Chopra couldn’t find a suitable villain from Bollywood for Dhoom 4, he might cast a South superstar again in Dhoom 4.
If any of the South stars mentioned above were cast in Dhoom 4, then that project is sure to become as hyped as WAR 2, if not more. Aditya Chopra surprised everyone big time with WAR 2 announcement, so we never know what’s brewing in his mind regarding Dhoom 4.
