Telugu cinema has seen a few pan-India directors, including SS Rajamouli, Sukumar, and Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Now, Prasanth Varma joins this esteemed list with his ambitious plans for the Prashanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU).
But there are other Telugu directors as well who failed to make a mark as a pan-Indian director.
Sujeeth was assigned to direct Prabhas after Baahubali. If he had made even a half-decent film, Saaho would have been a smash hit such was the hype. But he ruined the film with an uninteresting storyline and disastrous execution.
Radha Krishna was another director who couldn’t utilize the potential of making a pan-India film with Prabhas and came up with a complete fiasco like Radhe Shyam.
Krish, for whatever reasons, failed as a pan-India director with Manikarnika. Puri Jagannadh made a blunder called Liger in the name of a pan-India film despite having big Bollywood backing.
We have to see which directors have the potential to make it big on a pan-India level from Tollywood.
