The announcement of seven movies at a time by Amazon Prime Video has stunned the movie world. However, what is without a doubt noticeable and became a talking point all over is the absence of Telugu movies in the list.
The only film which had a Telugu connection was Penguin. However, it is not direct Telugu film, as Penguin is a Tamil product made simultaneously for Telugu release.
A day later, we have further information on the digital releases with Telugu movies as the focus. While there are many films which could arrive on any platform, not all of them are pursued aggressively by the OTT’s.
Only three films, from a comprehensive list, is on the OTT platform’s radar. They are Nishabdham, Uppena and Aranya. These three looks perfect for a digital release as the budgets are not too high, and at the same time, there is enough interest among the viewers to see.
Currently, a lot of behind the scenes talk is going on with the makers of these films. If an amicable deal is set and everyone associated with the projects is okay with it, expect the announcements to be made in the days ahead.
The problem with some of these films is either the reputation of the actors or the production house. Take the case of Uppena. It marks the debut of the hero, and the actor would ideally want a big-screen release. The director too, is hoping for the situation to get better and impress the audience by creating magic on the silver screen. With Nishabdham and Aranya, it is about the actors Anushka and Rana, similarly. Aranya additionally would have the budget issue.
Let’s see what decision is made in the coming days. There are a couple of other movies as well. But these seem to be high on the priority list.
