Rajamouli-Mahesh’s Varanasi Big Expectations After Ramayana
Why Is the Rajamouli vs Ramayana Comparison a Big Joke?
Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana has received a good response, especially for its visuals. Director Nitesh Tiwari has managed to give audiences a grand visual experience. But its success has also triggered an interesting discussion. Can SS Rajamouli match or surpass Ramayana with the 20-minute Ramayana episode in Varanasi?
Going by his past track record, Rajamouli is bound to surpass Ramayana by miles in visuals, imagination and execution. Varanasi might show what true vision and scale mean on the big screen. Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana is only the tip of the iceberg. It is almost a joke to compare Rajamouli with other directors when it comes to presenting grand visual spectacles. He operates on a completely different level.
However, another section feels Mahesh Babu faces a huge challenge in the Ramudu getup. Ranbir Kapoor was expected to bring aura, charm and emotional appeal to the role of Lord Ram, but he was not entirely convincing. But trust Rajamouli to get the character and its emotions right. He is expected to show the world how to present Rama with the utmost impact and devotion.
Ramayana has its share of massive technical and visual flaws. The Asuras’ appearance drew heavy backlash, while several scenes had very obvious green-screen effects that diluted the impact. These are precisely the areas where Rajamouli’s Varanasi is expected to show the difference.
The way Rajamouli combines VFX, CGI, imagination and storytelling to create a believable fantasy world is expected to leave global audiences in awe. His presentation of the Asuras and other mythological elements could show the world how it is done.
So, should Rajamouli prove himself once again with Varanasi after Ramayana? For those who believe in his vision, that question itself is the biggest joke. They are not waiting to see whether he can match Ramayana. They are waiting to see how far he can go beyond it and show the world the real potential of this genre.
