Twist: Suniel Narang Resigns from Film Chamber

Suniel Narang Resigns from Film Chamber

The sudden resignation of Asian Suniel Narang from the post of Telangana Film Chamber president has created fresh discussion within Tollywood circles. At a time when the industry is already dealing with internal disagreements over the Telangana exhibitors issue and percentage system debates, Narang’s exit has added another layer of uncertainty.

In his resignation letter sent to Chamber representatives, Suniel Narang made it clear that he was facing severe pressure from certain office bearers to take decisions that would benefit specific groups. He stated that he could no longer continue working under such pressure and requested immediate relief from his responsibilities as president.

Narang also mentioned that his health condition was not supporting him to continue in such a stressful environment. More importantly, he expressed disappointment over the functioning of the Chamber itself. According to him, decisions inside the Chamber are supposed to happen through mutual understanding and consensus, but that atmosphere no longer exists.

Interestingly, he even suggested the names of Sekhar and Vijender as possible replacements who could immediately take charge after his exit.

Within industry circles, there is also a feeling that Suniel Narang got himself into an unnecessary controversy recently after making personal comments about producer Naga Vamsi’s hair during an industry discussion. That episode quickly diverted attention from the actual Telangana exhibitors issue and turned the focus toward personal exchanges and side debates for a while.

People close to Narang feel that the controversy was completely avoidable and not something that suited his usual personality. Suniel Narang has largely maintained a non-controversial image in the industry over the years, staying away from public confrontations and aggressive political positioning inside film bodies.

At the same time, his big film #Peddi is gearing up for release, and there is a belief that Narang does not want to remain at the center of further industry heat or unnecessary political friction during a crucial release phase. With tensions already building around industry decisions and theatrical issues, stepping away now may have looked like the safest and cleanest option for him personally.

For now, his resignation has left many in the industry surprised, especially because it comes at a sensitive time when exhibitors, producers, and distributors are already divided on several important issues.
