Unexpected Super Hit Gives Hope To Film Industry

Zara Hatke Zara BachkeBollywood has been reeling under the effect of flops. Except for Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan and The Kerala Story, there has been no big hit from the Hindi film industry.

In the past, small & medium budget films which had good content did a business of 100 crores net easily. But post-COVID, all the audience, who used to patronize such films, has moved on to the OTT platforms. Because of this, some well-made films like The Action Hero, Bheed, Afwaah, and Badhaai Do failed at the box office, which hurt the industry badly.

But the surprise success of Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan’s latest film Zara Hatke Zara Bachke has breathed oxygen into the industry, which was on the ventilator.

The film has turned out to be a super hit and is sure to cross the Rs. 85 crore net lifetime in Hindi, which many superstars like Akshay Kumar have failed to cross in their past few films. The underperformance of Prabhas’ Adipurush has also helped this film to stay afloat even in its fifth week.

Bollywood can’t churn out big-budget extravagant films every week. The industry will survive only when small and medium-budget films also do well.

Zara Hatke Zara Bachke falls into that slice-of-life cinema made on a medium budget. The success of this film is a big boost to the film industry and also proves that there still is an audience that comes to theaters to watch such simple films, but only if they are entertaining and coupled with good music.
