Tollywood is slowly getting accustomed to the idea of sequels and director Vamsi is believed to be contemplating a sequel to his hit film, April 1 Vidudala. Starring Rajendra Prasad and Shobana in the lead roles, the movie despite negative feedback initially, went on to become a blockbuster. Vamsi is one of the few directors in Tollywood who has managed to create a niche for himself and an exclusive and loyal fan base who patronize his films on the first day of release.
The maverick filmmaker has some truly memorable classics like Sitara, April 1 Vidudala, Alapana, Anveshana, Ladies Tailor, etc to his credit. The director who was in hibernation for a long time made a successful comeback with Avunu Valliddaru Ishtapaddaru, but none of his movies since then have struck gold at the box-office. In fact his latest movie, Tanu Monne Vellipoyindi is yet to have a theatrical release, even though the movie was completed a long time ago.
Against this backdrop, it is interesting to note that Vamsi is contemplating a sequel to April 1 Vidudala. One thing is sure though! Irrespective of the market equations in Tollywood, Vamsi’s band of followers would definitely queue up on the first day of release of whichever movie he makes.
