After Revanth Reddy took charge as the chief minister of Telangana, he is acting seriously against drug peddlers. The Telangana Narcotics And Alcohol Bureau (TGNAB) is significantly performing raids to prevent the drug supply across the state.
Meanwhile, the officials have found that over 40,000 users are identified across the state, falling into this ugly trap.
In the past seven months, around 6,000 individuals have received counseling, which is part of an ongoing effort to help them overcome their addiction. The authorities have noted that a majority of the youth, 90 out of every 100, reported that their initial exposure to marijuana was due to peer pressure.
Most of the drug addicts seem to be students, IT professionals, and the children of rich people. There is a need for increased awareness, stronger preventive measures, and more effective support systems to help young people avoid the destructive path of drug addiction.
The film industry personalities have also been helping the government by sharing awareness videos against drug abuse. Also, the government is trying to establish rehab centres to help more people come out of this.
