Drunk Driving cases have become prevalent in Hyderabad over the last few years. According to the latest reports, Hyderabad Traffic Police registered 53,234 drunk driving cases and collected a fine of Rs. 10.69 crore from January 1 to November 26, 2024.
Of these 53,234 cases, 45,394 were filed against two-wheeler riders, 5364 against four-wheelers, and 2407 against three-wheeler drivers. 69 cases were registered against the other kinds of vehicles.

Among the two-wheeler riders, 2283 were caught for the second time, 101 were caught for the third, and 19 were caught for the fourth time. 3750 two-wheeler drivers were jailed for committing the offence for the first time. Their jail period ranged between one day to 60 days.
Among the two-wheeler offenders, 92 riders were jailed for one day, 12666 for two days, 101 for three days, 1985 for four days, 122 for five days, 74 for six days, 69 for seven days, six riders for eight days, two riders for nine days, 14 for 10 days, three riders for 12 days, two riders for 14 days, 10 riders for 15 days, one rider for 16 days, two for 20 days and one for a month.

Meanwhile, 573 two-wheeler offenders were asked to perform public community service for a few days. Also, the Traffic Police suspended a total of 331 driving licences this year for various violations.
