Alarm bells for Power Sector in Telangana!

Telangana-KCR-PowerAlready bogged with severe power crisis, Telangana is yet to see more of it. The newest state of the country is already facing a massive gap between the supply and demand but the gap is expected to widen more and more going further.

According to the estimations of the state government, the energy demand go up from 54,998 MU in 2014-15, to 84,496 MU in 2018-19, clocking a rise of 54 percent in five years.Officials are expecting a demand-supply gap of 40,742 MU, or 48 percent by 2018-19.

This massive increase is attributed to various projects and initiatives which will be completed by then. Hyderabad Metro Rail project, various lift irrigation schemes, and the upcoming project of the Hyderabad Information Technology Investment Region will have a severe impact on the Power sector. Also Warangal, Nizamabad and Karimnagar are slowly turning into bigger cities and will attribute to the power demand.
