The Kirlampudi police registered a criminal case against former minister and YSRCP leader Ambati Rambabu, along with several of his followers, for allegedly obstructing police officers from discharging their duties during the funeral procession of veteran leader Mudragada Padmanabham.
The incident occurred on Wednesday during the official state funeral in Kirlampudi, East Godavari district. According to the police complaint, Ambati Rambabu and his associates allegedly pushed and shoved police personnel deployed at the spot to present the official Guard of Honor to the departed leader.
The formal complaint was lodged by Armed Reserve (AR) Sub-Inspector Veluduti Appalaraju alongside other on-duty constables. In their report to the Kirlampudi police, the personnel stated that the YSRCP leader and his followers deliberately disrupted the official protocol and pushed the police team in the direct presence of senior officials.
Acting on the complaint, the Kirlampudi police registered a case under multiple sections of the law against Ambati Rambabu and others involved in the scuffle. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
