The Vijayawada Excise Court has extended the remand of those arrested in the AP fake liquor case. YSRCP leader and ex minister Jogi Ramesh, Jogi Ramu, Addepalli Janardhan Rao and four others were taken into custody in a case that dominated headlines for days.
As their remand ended on Tuesday, the accused were presented before the Court. The Court then extended their remand till December 9.
Jogi Ramesh has been identified as the key planner behind the fake liquor case that shook Andhra Pradesh. It was found that he leaked news about fake liquor to tarnish the image of the Chandrababu government.
Police identified loopholes and investigated further. They concluded that Jogi Ramesh ordered the production of fake liquor and leaked the information to YSRCP media. Janardhan Rao confessed that he made the fake liquor following Jogi Ramesh’s instructions.
Though Jogi Ramesh claimed he was framed, evidence reportedly showed his involvement. He has remained in jail since his arrest.
