The election schedule for the Atmakuru by-election has been released. Notification for the Atmakuru by-election will be issued on the 30th of this month.
Polling will be held on June 23 and results will be released on June 26. With the unfortunate demise of former minister Mekapati Gautam Reddy, a by-election was inevitable.
Recently, former MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy and his son Mekapati Vikram Reddy met CM Jagan.
The Chief Minister wants to give the YCP ticket to Gautam Reddy’s wife in the by-election.
However, YCP sources said that Rajamohan Reddy had asked him to give it to his second son Vikram Reddy.
So far, however, there has been no discussion on the Atmakuru TDP candidate. TDP has not yet announced that it will contest from Atmakur.
TDP is thinking along the lines of no candidate in case the family arrives at a consensus over the candidate.
There is sympathy for Gautham Reddy’s demise. In fact, it was Chandrababu Naidu who paid respects to Gautham Reddy’s mortal remains even before Jagan.
Also, public sympathy will be in favor of the Mekapati family in the by-election naturally unless there is friction within the family on display publicly.
At the same time, TDP is worried that skipping a by-election will send wrong signals with assembly elections just two years to go.
Meanwhile, BJP is contesting and is going to give a ticket to Bigivemula Ravindra Reddy a relative of the Mekapati family trying to exploit the family feud.
