Ever since YSR Congress came to power, there were rumors that the party’s senior leader and minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy is not in terms with another MLA, Roja.
Roja, at one point, has become a dummy in her own constituency. There were rumors that she may not even get a ticket from Nagari in 2024.
Peddireddy tried his level best to block Roja from getting a cabinet berth. CM Jagan Mohan Reddy does not want someone in the party to have a say in a region.
To checkmate Peddireddy, he gave a cabinet berth to Roja even though the caste calculations and others did not permit it.
Even though the move satisfies Jagan’s ego, it is bringing new problems for the party in Chittoor.
Peddireddy obviously is not happy with Jagan’s decision regarding Roja. He will definitely pull strings to checkmate her and defeat her in Nagari.
The other day, Roja toured her constituency for the first time after becoming a minister. She made comments not against her political rivals but against her own party leaders.
Chittoor district despite being the native district of Former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu overwhelmingly supported YSR Congress in the 2019 elections.
The party already started showing signs of trouble in some constituencies and this trend of leaders fighting among themselves will definitely not help.
We have seen similar things happening in the Nellore district between Kakani and Anil Kumar Yadav after the cabinet reshuffle.
