BJP led Central government is sitting on yet another crucial project of Andhra Pradesh. This time it is the proposed Expressway between Amaravati and Anantapur which will link Rayalaseema to the upcoming capital of the state. Central government is not announing the National highway number since once it is announced the entire expense to be borne by it.

The expressway is expected to cost a whopping 25000 Crore. Several hectares of private and forest lands are to be acquired. The land acquisition alone will cost 2000 Crore. The central government wants the state to bear the expense. This is like never before anywhere for the construction of a National Highway.
This looks like another sanctioned but will not move foward project of the Central government to Andhra Pradesh. The project will make headway only if tge cash strapped Andhra Pradesh comes forward to fund the land acquisition costs. There is a proposal to make it a part of Bharat Mala Project. According to the rules, only 200 kms in a state can be developed in one year. That will mean that the 557 kms project will go on till 3 years.
