A week ago, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated a school run by an NGO at Edagali village of Venkatachalam Mandal in Nellore district.
He interacted with the students studying there.
Naidu was asking questions to the students in Broken English which some of them could not understand. The teacher was explaining what the Chief Minister meant.
YSR Congress Social Media Cells were making these videos viral and were mocking Naidu’s English.
They were mocking how Naidu could barely speak in English and were making fun about how he is branded as a Visionary and for transforming Hyderabad into an IT Destination.
They were also circulating videos of KCR and Pasham Yadagiri mocking CBN’s English.
Its true, Naidu’s English is not good enough. But at 76, he never hesitates to try the language.
He did not study in an international school like Jagan Mohan Reddy and he hails from a farmer’s family.
History does not judge Naidu by how he speaks English.
He will have pages in the history for transforming lives of the people by bringing IT and other investments to a primarily agrarian state. Many families were uplifted from poverty/middle-class due to the IT revolution in Hyderabad.
The IT Hub – Hyderabad and adjacent Ranga Reddy district alone generated about 50% of the state’s total revenue
English is not enough to bring investments or to create jobs. International School English of Jagan Mohan Reddy took Andhra Pradesh to nowhere between 2019 and 2024.
After bifurcation, Andhra Pradesh has biggest FDI ever in the country with Kia Motors in Anantapur. There were companies like Isuzu, Hero MotoCorp, Mondelez Plant (the makers of Cadbury chocolates), and others.
This term has been even more significant. In just two years, Andhra Pradesh has Google, TCS, Cognizant, Accenture, ArcelorMittal, BPCL, etc.
There is Quantum Computer Valley coming in Amaravati very soon.
As said, history will judge both Naidu and Jagan with these achievements and about how they transformed lives. Naidu is much ahead of that when compared to Jagan Mohan Reddy.
If YSR Congress believes better English keeps them ahead, 2024 result did not do anything useful to them.
