Despite severe financial troubles, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is moving swiftly in the process of fulfilling the election promises.
We have seen the Government increase Pensions already. Now, the Chief Minister is planning to execute two more promises on August 15th, Independence Day.
The Government is planning to start Free Bus services to women from that day. Also, the first phase of Anna Canteens will be opened on the same day.
The Government is studying the pluses and minuses of the scheme that is already being implemented in Telangana.
Around 180 Anna Canteens will be operational from August 15th.
Many of the existing buildings that housed the canteens are in disrepair, with their equipment stolen, while others are being used as Ward Secretariats. The renovation works are going on in the abandoned buildings.
They are also exploring the options of relocating Ward Secretariats and use the same buildings for Anna Canteens.
Anna Canteens offers meals throughout the day at a highly subsidized rate of Rs 5. Each canteen serves between 5,000 to 10,000 meals daily
