Chandrababu Naidu who was out of jail after getting an interim bail scripted history the other day. He traveled all the way from Rajahmundry to Undavalli by road drawing heavy crowds everywhere. The journey which was supposed to take 3 hours took 14 hours because people would not let the convoy move.
This is easily the biggest-ever rally in Telugu history and moreover, it has happened impromptu and without any crowd mobilization.
This rally created a positive public perception in favor of the Telugu Desam Party. It has indicated that people are overwhelmingly sympathetic towards Chandrababu Naidu in these difficult times and are looking to rally with him.
Did Jagan underestimate the sympathy factor?
Maybe but there are people who believe that Jagan anticipated this response for Chandrababu Naidu.
Immediately after the bail was granted, the government panicked and moved an application asking for more conditions to be imposed.
The Government was keen on restricting Chandrababu’s movement only to his house and hospital.
They requested the court not to allow political meetings, speeches, rallies, and media interviews.
Probably, this is to ensure that the public response is not visible and Chandrababu does not interact with the people as it may stir more emotions.
Naidu tactically gave a speech and took out a rally while still making sure the court’s temporary conditions were not violated.
