Farmers in Telangana are staring at dire sequences for the fourth crop season in a row. The state is registering new lows in terms of area sown and a severe crisis staring in the face of farmers. The state is sowing less than half of the seasonal normal in the ongoing Rabi season.

There is also a massive drop in the area under paddy in all districts due to sharp fall in overall rainfall which is almost 76% less than the normal. This is for the first time that paddy cultivation is less than 20% of the normal area in Telangana
This is really alarming situation for the state which registered second rank in farmers suicides last year. The situation can go worse by the time of harvest. Even the sown crops are likely to fail due to water shortage and pest problems
