Former Chief Ministers – YS Rajasekhara Reddy and K Chandrasekhara Rao face the same issue.
Their children are at loggerheads and are washing their dirty linen in public.
We have seen Jagan ditch Sharmila after coming to power, and the latter positioning herself opposite her brother in the 2024 elections.
Sharmila definitely did play a part in Jagan’s drubbing in the election.
Jagan is fighting in the courts against his mother and sister over property disputes.
It is a slightly different story in KCR‘s house.
Kavitha has openly defied the party and announced that she would not accept anyone’s leadership except KCR’s.
She is making indirect allegations about her brother, and there are reports that KTR is making all attempts to get her suspended from the party.
Kavitha already started operating independently in the name of her Telangana Jagruthi.
It is such a pain to the supporters of both leaders to see the families fall apart.
But then, YSR is at least better than KCR in one aspect.
He was able to keep the family together until he was alive.
The differences arose only after Jagan became greedy and looked at his sister as a use-and-throw item.
Sadly, the rifts in KCR’s family arose when he was still active, and he is doing nothing to control them.
Incidentally, neither of the leaders encouraged their female children in politics.
We do not know what YSR would have done if he were alive. Those were days when Jagan himself was very new to politics, and he passed away in an unfortunate accident shortly after that.
KCR, on the other hand, was always clear that his son would be his Political Heir. Hence, he never allowed Kavitha into the Assembly. Initially, she was sent to the Parliament and later, when she lost in 2019, she was sent to the Council.
This arrangement was to make sure she was never a competition to KTR, but Kavitha is not giving up.
